Submitted in January 2026, this application values a heritage set of enormous historical and cultural relevance, involving Vila Viçosa, Borba and Elvas, and recognizing the importance of the seventeenth- and eighteenth-century defensive systems in the affirmation of this territory.

The visit allowed us to get to know some of the spaces that make up this historic landscape, from the Ducal Palace to the Castle of Vila Viçosa, as well as other heritage sites linked to the memory of the House of Bragança and the cultural identity of the Alentejo.
Valuing Vila Viçosa is valuing the History, the heritage and the capacity of the territories to project Portugal in the world.
