🇪🇺 We marked the 40th anniversary of Portugal’s accession to the European Union at the Summer CEmp, the European Union’s Summer School, promoted by the Representation of the European Commission in Portugal.
Forty years later, Europe is part of the reality of several generations who grew up with the freedom to study, work, move and collaborate within a common space. But receiving this inheritance does not mean accepting it without questioning it. It means understanding what continues to deserve to be defended – such as Democracy, Freedom, Peace, the Rule of Law – and what needs to be transformed to respond to the world in which we live. Culture has an essential role here: it helps us to understand what we have received, to broaden references, to form critical thinking and to imagine what does not yet exist. Because Europe is a project under construction. And what we decide to pass on to the next generations will also say something about us.
