Malta Tourism Authority preparing its new strategy
Susanne Becken : The discussions at the #Malta National Tourism Conference last week were extremely interesting and occured at an opportune time with the Malta Tourism Authority preparing its new strategy. The double edged sword of tourism success (measured as arrivals and expenditure) requires an equally strong focus on understanding and managing impacts for the long-term #prosperity, #resilience and #sustainability of Malta. The new Vision 2050 is a key vehicle to bring all sectors together on a joint journey. This frames the approach perfectly as it asks ‘what can tourism bring to support this vision’. Leslie Vella and his team can draw on extensive work already undertaken on measuring tourism impacts and combine this with management innovations that lead tourism to the next stage of a new tourism model.
