President of the Republic presides over the lowering of the National Flag during the celebrations of Portugal Day on Terceira Island June 10, 2026
The President of the Republic, António José Seguro, presided over the ceremony of lowering the National Flag, as part of the celebrations of Portugal Day, Camões and the Portuguese Communities on Terceira Island.
The ceremony was attended by the Representative of the Republic for the Autonomous Region of the Azores, Susana Costa, the President of the Regional Legislative Assembly, Luís Garcia, the President of the Regional Government of the Azores, José Manuel Bolieiro, the Minister of National Defence, Nuno Melo, the Mayor of Angra do Heroísmo, Fátima Amorim, and the Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces.
Cadets from the Air Force Academy lowered the National Flag while the Air Force Band played the National Anthem, sung by those present. The President of the Republic received the National Flag from the cadets and presented it to the Mayor of Angra do Heroísmo, Fátima Amorim.
Following the ceremony, the Head of State visited the Public Security Police Station and the Volunteer Firefighters’ Headquarters in Angra do Heroísmo, thanking them for all the support provided during the celebrations of Portugal Day, Camões Day, and the Day of the Portuguese Communities on Terceira Island.
