Research-Based Tourism Think Tank UTSSOB Holds Its First Executive Meeting
M.Z.I. Dalton Zahir | From TT Desk: A research-driven think tank, UTSSOB (Utsob), has formally received legal recognition with the objective of advancing Bangladesh’s promising tourism sector. By bringing together organizations and professionals associated with tourism onto a single platform, the initiative aims to conduct research and undertake diverse activities to support sectoral growth.


Following its registration with the government’s Joint Stock Companies, the first Executive Committee meeting of the United Tourism Stakeholders Society of Bangladesh (UTSSOB) was successfully held on April 28.

According to UTSSOB Secretary General Rezaul Ekram, the organization is committed to building a neutral and effective platform that will evolve into a strong think tank. “We believe that through collective thinking, research, and sincere efforts, it is possible to bring about positive and sustainable change in the tourism sector,” he said.

UTSSOB President Dr. H. M. Hakim Ali stated, “One of our key commitments is to support the relevant authorities by providing need-based research, reliable data, and analytical insights for the development of tourism.”
The meeting, held at a hotel in the capital, also decided to organize a seminar next May focusing on policy priorities for the tourism sector in the upcoming national budget. In addition, a five-member subcommittee has been formed to initiate research activities at the earliest.

The meeting was chaired by President H. M. Hakim Ali and attended by Senior Vice President M. Mofizur Rahman, Toufiq Rahman, Secretary General Rezaul Ekram, Joint Secretary Khadija Akter, and Directors Kamrul Hasan, Mohammad Jalal Uddin, Javed Ahmed, Syed Ahmed Ali, Mehdi Amin Chowdhury, and Mohammad Mahbub Hossain. Among the members of the advisory council, media personality Syed Ishtiaq Reza and journalist Pranab Saha were also present.
