Day-Long Culinary Workshop Enhances Practical Learning for NSTU Tourism Club
A day-long professional culinary workshop was successfully conducted by Khalil Culinary Arts Center for students of the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management at Noakhali Science and Technology University, providing participants with valuable hands-on exposure to real-world kitchen operations.
The workshop was designed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and industry practice by immersing students in a professional culinary environment. Throughout the session, participants engaged in practical cooking activities under the guidance of experienced culinary professionals, gaining firsthand experience of standard kitchen procedures, food preparation techniques, hygiene practices, and teamwork dynamics essential in hospitality operations.

Special emphasis was placed on hands-on learning, allowing students to actively participate in culinary tasks rather than observe passively. The training environment simulated real professional kitchens, enabling students to understand time management, coordination among kitchen staff, and the importance of precision and discipline in food production.
In addition to technical skills, the workshop highlighted the significance of teamwork and communication in culinary and hospitality settings. Students worked in groups, fostering collaboration and mutual responsibility while completing assigned tasks. This approach helped build confidence and prepare students for the fast-paced and demanding nature of the hospitality and tourism industry.

Faculty members and participants appreciated the initiative, noting that such industry-oriented programs play a crucial role in enhancing employability and professional readiness. The exposure to practical culinary operations was seen as a valuable complement to academic coursework, offering insights that are difficult to achieve within traditional classroom settings.
The workshop reflects Khalil Culinary Arts Center’s ongoing commitment to skill-based education and industry collaboration, while also supporting the broader goal of developing competent and job-ready graduates for the hospitality and tourism sector across Bangladesh.
