Too many women and girls continue to face barriers globally to careers in science. Not because of a lack of talent, but because of a lack of equity.

At UNESCO, we believe that gender equality in science depends on education, visible role models, and environments where everyone can learn, research and innovate freely.
That is why we support concrete initiatives worldwide, including the Fondation L’Oréal-UNESCO hashtag#FWIS Programme, the UNESCO–Equatorial Guinea Fellowship Programme, and this year’s launch of the GenSIS project, to advance more inclusive research and reinforce higher education systems.
On this hashtag#WomenInScience Day, we reaffirm that scientific progress can only meet the challenges of our time if it is shared, inclusive and driven by all.
