THE SOUTHWEST CORRIDOR
In last FITUR I took part, as honorary president of the Skal de Madrid, at the pavilion of Extremadura to present the new edition of the book “The Runner Iberian Southwest” coordinated by the Badajoz Skalega from Madrid, Antonio García Salas.
The book, which has 212 pages, has 40 companies that support the idea of the Southwest Corridor and with 16 collaborating entities, including the Skal of Madrid, the Autonomous Communities of Madrid, Castilla la Mancha and Extremadura and the Universities of Évora (Portugal) and the Extremadura region.

All emerged in 2017 when a group of companies promoted the platform “Extremadura en red” and hence the Southwest Corridor Iberian to connect Madrid with Lisbon by road and train and make it known in this vast territory of the Iberian Peninsula located between four large cities: Madrid, Porto, Lisbon and Seville, without forgetting the territories covered by that area in Spain and Portugal, which would correspond, more or less, to Roman Lusitania, which had as its capital Emerita Augusta, the current Mérida. And since the XIII makes up La Raya, the oldest border in all of Europe.

This book has the idea of shaping and promoting a tourist destination, and it does so through of 60 runners that correspond, in their majority, to a corridor of culture and heritage, another of nature, a third dedicated to to the water, to offer a quarter to the field of gastronomy and agri-food, to end with the corridor of services, sports and the spiritual, made up of Christianity, Sephardic, Islamic and Oriental.
In In the field of culture and heritage, this area offers 22 corridors ranging from what UNESCO has declared as a World Heritage Site to those that offer history, crafts, and culture. popular culture or literary routes, or films and television series.
In In the document there are natural spaces dedicated to the pastureland, bird routes, green, hunting and fishing and to the sky and stars.
Already In the agri-food field, there are routes of oils, wines, wine tourism, cheeses, sweets…
The Southwest corridor offers everything in a space that is a quarter of the of the territory of the Iberian Peninsula. It is well worth knowing and then offer new proposals to the runner to be published, taking a photo and Send it, with an explanatory text, to this email: info@corredorsudoesteiberico.net
