*World Cup2026: FPF and Turismo de Portugal inaugurate “Casa de Portugal” in Brooklyn*
New York, United States, 14 Jun 2026 (Lusa) – The Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) and Turismo de Portugal inaugurated on Saturday, in Brooklyn, United States, the ‘Portugal House’, a space for meeting and celebrating Portuguese identity during the World Cup. Located in the Time Out Market in Brooklyn, New York City, the “Casa de Portugal” is a space dedicated to the promotion of Portuguese culture, gastronomy and traditions, aiming to be a meeting point for fans, members of the Portuguese community and the public who seek to follow the path of the Portuguese team in what is the biggest football competition in the world, but also a showcase for all those who want to get to know Portugal better. The inauguration event had as its motto the festivities of Saint Anthony, with a wide range of music and Portuguese flavors, and was attended by the Secretary of State for Tourism, Commerce and Services, Pedro Machado.
Also present were the Commercial and Marketing Director of the FPF, João Medeiros Cardoso, the president of Turismo de Portugal, Carlos Abade, as well as the model and actress Sara Sampaio and the former players of the National Football Team Costinha and Fernando Meira. “This is a space with which we increasingly want to seduce Americans to visit Portugal. (…) This space is the Portuguese ‘DNA’, Portuguese culture, Portuguese gastronomy, Portuguese wines, Portuguese entrepreneurs. Everything that today reinforces the Portugal brand we brought to New York, in fact, where we are already particularly well known”, said Pedro Machado. “We really want to take advantage of this giant wave and hope that Portugal can leave here champion. And this house is exactly so that everyone can feel that Portugal is also their home”, added the Secretary of State. To make the “Casa de Portugal” more cozy, a kind of living room was installed on the fifth floor of the Time Out Market, with sofas and decoration alluding to Portugal, where visitors can get closer to the experience of entering a Portuguese house.
